Where is /proc/sys/kernel/unsupported ?

According to some Suse documentation I read, if I specify "unsupported=1" on the kernel command line, I should get see the file /proc/sys/kernel/unsupported, which lets me specify how to load "unsupported" external modules. However, this file does not exist, and I can't get my kernel to load my home-built module. What am I doing wrong?
