But, I saw in source that there is no need_resched on a task structure (2.6).

Hi, i am talking about 2.6 kernel. The need_sched in task structure is used in 2.4. In 2.6 it is changed.

Also,
The source code in distributions are very much different from that of kernel.org
The distros customise the kernel.
In red hat 9(2.4.x), there is O(1) scheduler but it arrived in 2.5 in kernel.org.
