I don't think so. When I run "make menuconfig" on the config file that I copied from /boot, it clearly shows options that don't match the currently running kernel, like the ext3 and 64GB stuff. When I compile the kernel source with that config file, the new kernel matches the config file (e.g. 64GB support really is turned on). However, the CD-installed kernel is different (e.g. 64GB support is not turned on).
