Well the info you're providing is not enough since we never saw the code :)
I think a reasonable way of operating passes through an analysis of the 
dump. For doing it you might consider the idea of using ksymoops. If you 
take a look at my home page (reported below) you may find few documents
about kernel debugging. Once you realize where problem may occur in the
code everything should be simpler.
