Thanks for the warning :) but i really intend to use it for testing purpose only. also if i get the vanilla version do i have to get all th rmk patches i.e from 1 to 7 and apply them???? NOTE: my primary purpose for applying the ARM patch is so that i have functionalities like "register_uart_driver", "uart_driver" etc. available in my kernel which i cud use for writing a serial port driver(again test purpose only!!). I've heard all this is available in the 2.5 and 2.6 versions but also heard that they r a tad bit difficult to work with. time is at a premium for me, so what do u all suggest TIA mandeep -----Original Message----- From: Arjan van de Ven [mailto:arjanv@redhat.com] Sent: Wednesday, January 14, 2004 2:32 PM To: Mandeep Singh Sandhu Cc: kernelnewbies@nl.linux.org Subject: Re: how to apply ARM patch over kernel source On Wed, 2004-01-14 at 08:20, Mandeep Singh Sandhu wrote: > Hi all, > (my apologies if this is a repeat....thought my earlier post did'nt go!) > i'm running a RH 9.0 (kernel ver- 2.4.20-6) on > my intel PC. In either case you really should reconsider and NOT run 2.4.18; a significant amount of serious security issues and other bugs have been fixed since. -- Kernelnewbies: Help each other learn about the Linux kernel.
