Title: my monitor flickers !@#$%^$#@

I would say that you probably need to update you’re video drivers.  I get that same problem every time I upgrade my kernel.  I have to recompile the NVIDIA drivers for my card.  I would think that would be it.  The new driver from NVIDIA is pretty decent, if it can’t find the kernel header for your kernel, it will try to download one.  If it can’t download one, it will compile one – on the spot.  So I would say start there.  If you’re not using NVIDIA, try your manufacturer’s website.  Other that that you might be SOL.  But ultimately I think that’s you’re problem.

Good luck!

Subject: my monitor flickers !@#$%^$#@

Hello,

Just i installed Mandrake Linux release 8.2
After the installation, when i restarted...
it displays the login option and the screen starts flickering..
after few attempts it gave the following error message

INIT: Id "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 min

after 5 min it gives the same error message.
Any idea what is going wrong?

Regards,
