console boot msgs if panic

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

I just installed a 2.4.20 kernel.org kernel and -ac patches on top of a RH8 system, and had lots of trouble getting the IDE config right. It was compiling, but could never find the root disk and kept panicing. Finally got it running, but at the time, all the console messages at boot time would scroll off the screen and of course not get saved to /var/log/messages.

For future use, is there any way I can get a look at console messages that scroll away when the system panic's before it starts enough to be able to put them into messages?

Thanks,
Mark
