Hi, I was trying to compile the kernel 2.4.20 on a newly installed Redhat 8.0 system. The kernel and the modules was compiled successfully. But i was getting the following error when executing "make install" ........ ........ Setup is 2521 bytes. System is 964 kB warning: kernel is too big for standalone boot from floppy sh -x ./install.sh 2.4.20 bzImage /usr/src/linux-2.4.20/System.map "" + '[' -x /root/bin/installkernel ']' + '[' -x /sbin/installkernel ']' + exec /sbin/installkernel 2.4.20 bzImage /usr/src/linux-2.4.20/System.map '' grubby fatal error: unable to find a suitable template make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.20/arch/i386/boot' > However i managed to configure grub manually by adding the new image. But i couldn't boot with the new kernel. It hangs with "Loading kernel....."! Can anyone tell me what i am missing here..? TIA, john
