not sure if this is helpful, but i think that after 2.5.48 you need

  Thanks you very much switch.

  module-init-tools-0.7 looks work fine. But i think it is a drastic change
in the way of treat the modules by the Linux kernel. Where are now the "Tainted"
propierty?, and why the new kernel don't have the modversions.h header?

  It is like return to the 2.2 times (more or less).
