you have to copy /lib/modules/2.4.19/kernel/fs/ext3/ext3.o to /initrd
and /lib/modules/2.4.19/kernel/fs/jbd/jbd.o to /initrd (if it is there)

and then do /sbin/mkinitrd.

also, make sure your kernel is in /usr/src/linux/... by default, this is a
symlink that points to the kernel that comes with the distro.
