Read Documentation/SubmittingPatches in Linux kernel sources. Just the first section is relevant for making the patch itself, so you don't need to read further. Note: patch does not work very well when differed files are in different depth. So you should ln -s /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/kernel2.4/linux /usr/src/rhlinux That will make things less error-prone.
