suspend effect on modules

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi guys,

got my laptop configured and recompiled the 2.4.7-10
kernel.. (yes I know thats old)

everything is fine.. however. when you put the laptop
in suspend mode (close the lid).. everything is
saved.. and comes up when you wake it again..

in suspend mode, the hardware is put to sleep and once
its woken up, it is in a different state (almost
powered down) and needs to be reset to the 'workable'
state essentially the module (device driver) needs to
take care of this..

is there any exposed onWakeup(..) function that will
be called?? by the apm manager?

but I guess this is not happening and my network goes
dead two:

I use DHCP.. a new IP should be obtained after a
wakeup.. and the old one released (it will be
releaserd by the server anyway if it is not used for a
long time).. even doing a network stop/start will not
solve this and I don't believe in spending much fossil
fuel (keeping the laptop on for long) .. :) any
suggestions/ideas...

guess this should be incorporated in the kernel.. some
kind of a wakeup mechanism..

cheers,
Sharath
