SV: unable to start X

I think XFree86 is off-topic. This list is for kernel related stuff.

Anywayz, go see www.xfree86.org and http://www.xfree86.org/4.2.0/index.html for documentation (for version 4.2 - follow the documentation link from the main page to see different versions).

Also, XConfigurator does not always work very well, so you may have to edit the configuration manually.

Since you have an ATI adapter you probably also wants to read http://www.xfree86.org/4.2.0/ati.html.

The (xx) in front of each line in the log indicates the status. These statuscodes are IIRC listed at the beginning of the log, or in the man page for the configuration file. I think (EE) means error. You graphics driver and/or screen configuration is not working/found.

i tried to reconfigure using Xconfigurator , but this is also
failing to start x server.
any idea what the problem here is? ( seems unable to find driver
