I don't know whether soundcore.o is part of the OSS drivers or not, but the 
Redhat sndconfig breaks very frequently on custom compiled kernels on 
RH 7.x on an I810 that I have used. Sometimes the issue is soundcore not found,
and sometimes it doesn't even find out anyway. My guess had been that it's
internal database of sound configs is pretty limited. RH7.1+ works out of the
box on an I810 though. I wonder whether they have put in some I810 specific
sound stuff on the kernel.
