There was quite some discussion about the number of system calls on
linux-kernel. I can't remember the exact outcome, but the bottom line
was that we approached the maximum number at a high speed. One of the
ideas was to create a range of dynamic syscall numbers, much in the
same way as you can get a dynamic major number for devices.
