i took over the linux kernel programming guide from ori pomerantz, since it
was a very dead document. i updated the first 3 or 4 chapters before
learning that LDP would no longer accept latex submissions.

david porter (whom i still have to thank) and i converted the whole thing to
docbook. it was a long process, but we're now done.

you can take a look at the finished product:

	http://www.dirac.org/linux/writing/ (sgml tarball or postscript)

no doubt there are glaring errors and lots of out-of-date material. i'm sure
there are also big formatting glitches. i haven't gone over the finished
product yet. and keep in mind that only the first 3 or 4 chapters are
different from the original.

please email comments and corrections to me at p@dirac.org. this baby is
going to LDP in a week, glitches and all, if only to let people know that the
mpg is again being maintained.

thanks,

pete
