Hello Peter, unfortunately I can't really help solving this problem, but at least I can tell that redirect and transparent proxying _should_ work on a 2.6.0 system cause I've been using it at home since 2.6.0 came out and even at -test stage I had no problems. My box is a RH 9 system with iptables 1.2.8.
