HELLO ALL, I AM A LINUX NEWBIE, IN FACT I JUST INSTALLED MANDRAKE LINUX 9 YESTERDAY FOR THE FIRST TIME. HERE IS MY SITUATION. I NEED TO MANAGE A FEW PRIVATE NETWORKS VIA SNMP THAT USE THE SAME ADDRESS SPACE WITH A SINGLE MANAGEMENT STATION. THIS IS WHERE MY FRIEND LINUX CAME INTO MY LIFE. I NEED TO SEND ALL SNMP PACKETS TO THE LINUX BOX FROM THE FIREWALL. THEN USING SNMP ALG I NEED TO TRANSLATE IP ADDRESS'S IN THE PAYLOAD OF THE SNMP PDU'S TO THE NATTED ADDRESS. THEN SEND THEM TO THE MANAGEMENT STATION. THAT'S IT. THE EDGE ROUTER DOES ALL THE NATTING SO THE LINUX BOX WILL NOT HAVE TO DO ANY NATTING. JUST TRANSLATE THE IP ADDRESS'S IN THE PAYLOAD TO THE NATTED ADDRESS. THE PROBLEM IS.... I CAN NOT FIND ANY DOCUMENTATION ANYWHERE ON THE SNMP ALG FEATURE SO I DONT EVEN KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN. THATS WHERE YOU KIND FOLKS COME IN. LOOKING TO BE POINTED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. DO YOU HAVE ANY DOCUMENTATION ON THE SNMP ALG FEATURE? COULD YOU PROVIDE ME WITH THE BASIC COMMANDS PERTAINING TO IT. THANKS IN ADVANCE, KEN __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Protect your identity with Yahoo! Mail AddressGuard http://antispam.yahoo.com/whatsnewfree
