Yes, you can compile a brand new version for your own system.
It's not that hard...

A Google search on "iptables 1.2.7a redhat rpm" returns results like http://www.haoli.org/rpm/redhat-7.x/RPMS/i386/.
But I still think you'd better compile your own.
