| April 27, 2015 CONTRACT RELEASE C15-014 NASA Brings in Small Business for Further Development of Hypervelocity Vehicles NASA has awarded the Entry Systems Technology Research and Development (ESTRAD) contract to Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc., a small business in Hampton, Virginia. As NASA continues on its journey to Mars, the ESTRAD contract will provide engineering support for the development of technologies that will be used to design and fabricate vehicles that travel at hypervelocities in the atmosphere of Earth and other bodies in the solar system, such as Mars. This cost-plus-fixed-fee hybrid contract includes an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity provision. The contract has a five-year period of performance, consisting of a two-year base with a value of $2.2 million and three one-year options. The total estimated contract value is $43 million. The work performed under this contract is managed by the Entry Systems and Technology Division at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California.
