NASA Selects Texas State University to Provide Educator Professional Development

NASA's Minority University Research and Education Project has awarded approximately $15 million in a new, five-year cooperative agreement to Texas State University at San Marcos to provide educator professional development using NASA-related science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) content.

The selection is in response to an Education Opportunities in NASA STEM – Educator Professional Development (EONS-EPD) solicitation issued in March 2014. The solicitation challenged Minority Serving Institutions to propose innovative ways to share unique NASA content to enhance STEM educators' professional development.

Through this agreement, Texas State University and its partners will create experiential learning opportunities for educators, with a strong emphasis on digital technology for accessing and using NASA content.

NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, administers the EONS-EPD activity, which supports NASA's goal of providing high quality STEM professional development opportunities for formal and informal educators using NASA’s unique assets and capabilities.
