NASA Astronauts to Call Colorado Students from Space

Cadets and students from the U.S. Air Force Academy and the Jack Swigert Aerospace Academy Magnet School in Colorado will gather at 11:50 a.m. EDT Thursday, April 24, to speak live with astronauts currently aboard the International Space Station.

The event, featuring NASA astronauts Rick Mastracchio and Steve Swanson, will be broadcast live on NASA Television and the agency's website.

Media interested in covering the event should contact Julie Imada at 719-333-3273 or julie.imada@xxxxxxxxx. The U.S. Air Force Academy and Jack Swigert Aerospace Academy are located at 2302 Vandenberg Drive at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Educators have been preparing their students for the conversation with the crew by incorporating NASA activities in their classrooms. This in-flight education downlink is one in a series designed to improve science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), teaching and learning. It is an integral component of NASA's Teaching From Space education program, which promotes learning opportunities and builds partnerships with the education community using the unique environment of space and NASA's human spaceflight program.
