NASA Hosts Teleconference Today to Discuss Asteroid Research

NASA will hold a media teleconference at 3:30 p.m. EST (12:30 p.m. PST) today to discuss research findings from the February Chelyabinsk meteor incident and update the agency's progress in searching, detecting, tracking and characterizing near-Earth objects (NEOs).

Briefing participants are:

-- Lindley Johnson, NEO program executive, Planetary Science Division, NASA Headquarters, Washington

-- Peter Jenniskens, co-author of a Chelyabinsk-related research paper, SETI Institute, Mountain View, Calif.

-- Bill Cooke, Meteoroid Environment Office lead, NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, Ala.

-- Paul Chodas, research scientist, NEO Program Office, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif.

Media interested in participating in the teleconference should call 800-475-0449 15 minutes before the teleconference begins. International media should call 517-308-9230. The passcode is "meteor."
