NASA'S FIRST IT SUMMIT TO SHOWCASE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE TECH INNOVATIONS

WASHINGTON -- NASA is inviting journalists to cover its first 
Information Technology (IT) Summit on Aug. 16-18. The event at the 
Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in National Harbor, 
Maryland, will bring together government and industry leaders to 
discuss best practices and innovations in IT. 

More than 1100 people have registered for the summit, which will 
include presentations on themes such as social networking, green IT, 
innovation, infrastructure, operations and IT security and privacy. 
The speakers include: 
- NASA Administrator Charles Bolden 
- NASA Chief Information Officer Linda Cureton 
- Chief Information Officer of the United States Vivek Kundra 
- Walt Disney's Vice President and General Manager Walt Disney 
Imagineering-FL Jack Blitch 
- Google's Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist Vint Cerf 
- Dell Services' Chief Innovation Officer Jim Stikeleather 
- Symantec's Chief Technology Officer Mark Bregman 
- Inspirion's Chief Executive Officer Misti Burmeister 
- Gartner Inc.'s Vice President and Gartner Fellow in Research David 
W. Cearley 

"The first NASA IT Summit is an opportunity for NASA's IT staff to 
learn about the best practices and innovations within NASA and in the 
overall IT sector," Cureton said. "This knowledge sharing is critical 
if we want NASA to have the best IT organization in the federal 
government."
