About 400 sixth- through eighth-grade students and their teachers will participate in a live downlink, which is scheduled to take place at 12:20 p.m. EDT. Selected students will ask questions of astronauts Tracy Caldwell Dyson, Doug Wheelock and Shannon Walker, members of the 24th crew who live and work aboard the station This event is part of a series with educational organizations in the United States and abroad to improve teaching and learning in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It is an integral component of Teaching From Space, a NASA project that uses the unique environment of human spaceflight to promote learning opportunities and build partnerships between the agency and kindergarten through 12th-grade educators. Conyers Middle School is part of NASA's Explorer Schools Program, which gives educators, administrators, students, and families in sustained involvement with the agency's education programs. Students have prepared for the downlink by holding a spacesuit fashion show during which students designed and modeled their own creations and participated in events with NASA's Digital Learning Network.
