CONTRACT RELEASE: C09-031

NASA MODIFIES MISSION OPERATIONS SUPPORT CONTRACT

WASHINGTON -- NASA has awarded a $37.2 million contract modification
to Lockheed Martin Corp. of Gaithersburg, Md., to provide additional
user application software development and maintenance as part of the
Facilities Development and Operations Contract, or FDOC.

Under the contract, Lockheed Martin provides support for the hardware,
software, data and displays used to train for and execute human
spaceflight missions. The contract provides consolidated systems
services development and operations support within the Mission
Control Center at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston and backup
control centers for the Space Shuttle, International Space Station
and Constellation programs.

This modification is associated with the recently developed Next
Generation Space Station Training Facility Part-Task Trainer and will
provide for the support of 8.2 million lines of additional user
application software code, and maintenance and operations for the
simulators. The majority of the work will take place at or near
Johnson.

The contract base period began Jan. 1, 2009, and continues through
Sept. 30, 2012. The contract modification includes two one-year
extension options valued at $8.7 million and $8.9 million
respectively. Exercising both options would extend the contract
through Sept. 30, 2014, and increase the total contract modification
value to $54.8 million.
