NASA SLS Rocket Testing Ensures Astronaut Safety, Mission Success

As the world reflects on the 50th anniversary of the Apollo missions, NASA is looking forward to its next giant leaps. One way NASA ensures the safety of astronauts and the success of the Artemis missions to the Moon in preparation for future missions to Mars is by testing the Space Launch System rocket structures. The last structural test article, the liquid oxygen tank, recently arrived at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.


 

3, 2, 1... Lift-Off of the Artemis 1 Mission to the Moon

Hear the countdown and see how NASA’s Space Launch System, the world’s most powerful rocket, will send the Orion spacecraft to the Moon on the Artemis 1 Mission. This video takes you through the pre-launch sequence at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and through all the flight operations as SLS launches Orion and sends it on to lunar orbit.


 

Angelia Walker’s Surprise Opportunity Leads to 3 Decades with NASA

Walker has has enjoyed a successful career with NASA, most recently being appointed deputy director of Marshall’s Spacecraft and Vehicle Systems Department.


 

International Space Station Crew Configures Hardware to Monitor Brain, Radiation Exposure in Space

The Expedition 60 crew configured a variety of science hardware monitoring the brain and radiation exposure. Marshall manages science operations for the space station.


 

Green Propellant Infusion Mission Fires Thrusters for the First Time

Within a week of launching to space on a Falcon Heavy rocket, NASA’s Green Propellant Infusion Mission successfully fired its five thrusters. GPIM is part of NASA’s Technology Demonstration Missions program managed at Marshall.
