Rocket Science in 60 Seconds gives you an inside look at work being done at NASA to explore deep space like never before on Exploration Mission-1 (EM-1), the first flight of NASA’s Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft. Mike Sarafin, EM-1 mission manager, explains how this mission beyond the Moon will unfold and what we will learn.


 

NASA Seeking Ideas for Robotic Competition

NASA wants your help designing the potential second phase of its successful Space Robotics Challenge, for which teams developed software for the agency’s humanoid R5 robot. Request information and submit a proposal for Space Robotics Challenge: Phase 2, advancing autonomous robotic systems by Aug. 21.


 

Missouri Students Receive Call From Space

On July 18, students at the Saint Louis Science Center in Missouri had the opportunity to speak to NASA astronaut Serena Auñón-Chancellor as she was orbiting 250 miles above Earth. Missouri is one of six states where science, technology, education and mathematics outreach is conducted by NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.


 

Chandra May Have First Evidence of a Young Star Devouring a Planet

Scientists may have observed, for the first time, the destruction of a a young planet or planets around a nearby star. Observations from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory indicate that the parent star is now in the process of devouring the planetary debris. This discovery gives insight into the processes affecting the survival of infant planets.
