Steve Miley Named Associate Director of NASA's Marshall Space Flight CenterSteve Miley was named associate director of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center this week. He will manage and lead development of business operations, guide daily business decisions and oversee Marshall's operational policy and processes. In addition, he will serve as a senior adviser in advancing the direction of the center's future.
Small Businesses Learn About Opportunities to Work with NASA's SLS RocketSmall business leaders from around the country gathered in Huntsville, Alabama, this week to learn about opportunities to work on NASA's Space Launch System. There are currently 1,100 companies from 44 states helping to build the rocket that will send astronauts to the Moon, Mars and beyond.
Orbital ATK Cygus Cargo Ship Delivers Research and Supplies to Space StationThe International Space Station's Expedition 55 crew welcomed 7,400 pounds of research and supplies to the orbiting laboratory this week. Part of NASA's Commercial Resupply Program, an Orbital ATK Cygnus spacecraft launched Monday, May 21, from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virgina and successfully docked with the station Thursday, May 24.
InSight Steers Toward MarsNASA's InSight lander has made its first course correction toward Mars. The lander launched May 5 from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California and this week, the spacecraft fired its thrusters for the first time to change its flight path. InSight, short for Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport, is the first mission dedicated to exploring the deep interior of Mars.
