Marshall Engineer Corey Harrell Launches Inspiration into Communities

Corey Harrell, the engines Safety and Mission Assurance branch chief at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, knew at a young age that his passion for math and science would take him places, but he never imagined that his work would make missions to the Moon, Mars and beyond possible.

It takes a lot to build the world's most powerful rocket. And for NASA's Space Launch System, many of the "guts" are being outfitted into the rocket's core stage now. Engineers are installing more than 750 sensors, 45 miles of cabeling, 100,000 fasteners and much more.


 

Three Expedition 54 Crewmates Return Home from the International Space Station

After living and working in space for months, three members of the Expedition 54 crew aboard the International Space Station, including NASA astronauts Mark Vande Hei and Joe Acaba, returned to Earth this week. Their time on station marked the beginning of the first long-term increase in crew size on the U.S. segment, enabling NASA to double the time dedicated to research.


 

Beaming with the Light of Millions of Suns

Using data from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, researchers have identified a fourth ultraluminous X-ray source as being a neutron star, and found new clues about how these objects can shine so brightly. The newly characterized ULX is located in the Whirlpool galaxy, also known as M51.
