NASA Statement on National Space Council Policy for Future American Leadership in Space

The National Space Council met this week for the first time since being re-established by President Donald Trump. The council met at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Chantilly, Virginia. After the meeting, Acting NASA Administrator Robert Lightfoot issued a statement about the results from the council's first meeting.


 

NASA Astronauts Wrap Up Robotic Arm Work in Space Station Spacewalk

NASA Astronauts Randy Bresnik and Mark Vande Hei successfully completed a spacewalk this week, replacing one of two Latching End Effectors on the International Space Station's robotic arm, Canadarm2. They also made preparations for two future space walks scheduled for this month.


 

Where the Past Meets the Present: Marshall Figures Recognized

Recently on the campus of Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, the past met the present and planned for the future during the first Alabama Historically Black Colleges and Universities Roundtable Discussion. It focused on drawing more minorities -- specifically women -- into academic fields and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.


 

Seeing Double: Scientists Find Elusive Giant Black Hole Pairs

Combining data from a suite of different observatories including NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory, astronomers have identified a bumper crop of dual supermassive black holes in the centers of galaxies. This discovery could help astronomers better understand how giant black holes grow and how they may produce the strongest gravitational wave signals in the universe.
