MEDIA ADVISORY M17-017
NASA's Marshall Center to Host Mentor-Protégé Agreement Signing Between Huntsville-area Firms

Media are invited to attend a NASA mentor-protégé agreement signing by two Huntsville, Alabama-area companies at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 28 at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville.

Jacobs of Tullahoma, Tennessee, a NASA prime contractor, will provide strategic business and technical support to assist the competitiveness and growth of CRM Solutions, a woman-owned Historically Under-utilized Business Zone-certified small business in Huntsville.

"This is the 15th mentor-protégé agreement signing we've hosted at Marshall, and the fourth between a prime contractor and a HUBZone-certified small business," said David Brock, Marshall small business specialist. "We're proud this agreement is between two Huntsville-area firms."

Representatives of both companies and Marshall will participate in the ceremony, including:

  • Jody Singer, Marshall deputy director
  • Steve Miley, Marshall director of procurement
  • David Brock, Marshall small business specialist
  • Randy Lycans, Jacobs vice president and general manager
  • Rhonda Rutledge McLaurin, CRM Solutions president and CEO
  • T.K. Pendergrass, Marshall Engineering & Science Services and Skills Augmentation contract officer

The mentor-protégé program was reinstated in 2008 by NASA's Office of Small Business Programs to pair large companies with eligible small businesses and educational institutions to establish long-term relationships and enhance their capabilities, ensuring the availability of vital products and services for NASA, other agencies and industry. There are currently 40 mentor-protégé agreements across NASA's 10 centers. With 15 current agreements, Marshall manages more than any other center.

Media interested in interview opportunities at the signing or needing other information should contact Marshall Public Affairs Officer Kim Newton at 256-544-0371 or kimberly.d.newton@xxxxxxxx no later than 3 p.m. Monday, March 27.
