(Video 3:18) Hinode Celebrates A Decade of Solar Observations

A decade of solar observing by Hinode has changed our view of the sun by providing the highest-resolution images of its innermost atmosphere and the most sensitive magnetic field measurements available from space. To celebrate Hinode’s anniversary, this video features highlights captured during the satellite's first decade in space.


 

I Chart the Path: Eric Tepool

As chief engineer of the Liquid Engines Office at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, Eric Tepool oversees the technical side of upgrading the Space Launch System's RS-25 engines. These engines powered all 135 of NASA’s space shuttle missions as the space shuttle main engines before they began their SLS upgrade.


 

NASA Scientists Solve Pluto Mystery, Detect X-rays

Two big stories revolve around Pluto and one of its moons this week. NASA New Horizons mission scientists believe they have solved the mystery of a large reddish polar region on Pluto’s largest moon, Charon, and scientists using NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory have made the first detections of X-rays from Pluto.


 

NASA Marshall Education Specialist Diedra Williams Receives Service Award

NASCAR has nothing on NASA education program specialist Diedra Williams when it comes to planning a big race. Each spring, Williams assembles an enormous team of volunteers from Marshall, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and partner organizations in and around Huntsville to stage the NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge.
