Marshall Center Director Todd May to Discuss the ‘State of Marshall’ on Feb. 9

Media are invited to attend a news conference with Center Director Todd May on Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. CST at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. The news conference will follow a 12:30 p.m. live televised broadcast of NASA Administrator Charles Bolden’s “State of NASA” address from NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. Bolden will discuss the agency's achievements, cutting-edge future work and progress on its journey to Mars. Bolden's briefing will be carried live on NASA TV and the agency's website at:

For the news conference, May will be joined by Marshall Chief Financial Officer Bill Hicks and discuss the Center’s progress on the journey to Mars, what the FY17 budget proposal means for Marshall, and take reporter questions.

On Feb. 9, Marshall will also host a NASA Social where 20 accredited social media participants will have the opportunity to learn first-hand about Marshall’s contributions to NASA’s journey to Mars. Guests will have the opportunity to interact with Marshall engineers working on the Space Launch System program and tour a new International Space Station exhibit at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center joined by flight controllers from Marshall. Media may also join the NASA Social tour, which is scheduled from noon - 5 p.m.

At 4 p.m. CST, NASA Chief Financial Officer David Radzanowski will hold a FY 2017 budget teleconference from Washington. Media may also listen to the budget teleconference from the Marshall press room. It will be available at:

Media interested in attending any of the budget activities should contact Kimberly Newton in the Marshall Public & Employee Communications Office at 256-544-0034 by 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8. To attend the news conference, media should report to the Redstone Arsenal Joint Visitor Control Center at Gate 9, Interstate 565 interchange at Rideout Road/Research Park Boulevard, by 1:30 p.m. for escort.
