On Sept. 17, NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, will host a Small Business Alliance Meeting at the Davidson Center for Space Exploration in Huntsville. The meeting will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the awards ceremony scheduled from 9:30 to 10 a.m.

The Marshall Center Small Business Office will present the annual Industry and Advocates Awards, honoring aerospace companies and leaders who have demonstrated support of the Marshall Center’s Small Business programs and NASA’s mission of exploration. Sponsored by Marshall’s Office of Procurement and the Small Business Office, the Small Business Alliance was established in 2007 to help small businesses pursue NASA procurement and subcontracting opportunities.  Hundreds of representatives of large and small business prime contractors, subcontractors and NASA organizations from across the country are expected to participate.

Marshall Deputy Director Todd May will present opening remarks, followed by speakers Mark Russell, president of the Huntsville City Council; and Troy Trulock, mayor of the City of Madison. Awards will be presented by Kim Whitson, director of the Marshall Office of Procurement; and Dave Grove, program manager of the NASA Office of Small Business Programs. Moderating the event will be David Brock, small business specialist at Marshall.

News media interested in covering the event should contact Kim Newton in the Marshall Public & Employee Communications Office at 256-544-0034 no later than 4 p.m. Sept. 16.
