Former Astronaut, Dr. Ellen Ochoa, to Speak at Marshall Center’s Hispanic Heritage Event

On Oct. 7, NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama will host a Hispanic Heritage Month observance. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Ellen Ochoa, former NASA astronaut, first Hispanic female in space and current director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.

The theme of this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month is “Hispanics: A legacy of history, a present of action and a future of success.” Scheduled activities during the event include ethnic food sampling of various Latin and Hispanic food, as well as live music.

The event is scheduled from 10-11:00 a.m. at the Marshall Center’s Activities Building 4316, in collaboration with Team Redstone. News media interested in covering the event should contact Betty Humphery in the Marshall Public & Employee Communications Office at 256-544-0034 no later than 4 p.m. on Oct. 6.
