Marshall Center Hosts Minority Partnerships Meeting with White House Associate Director for HBCUs

On Sept. 17, media are invited to attend a NASA Partnerships Meeting for Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), sponsored by NASA’s Office of Small Business Programs, NASA’s Office of Education and supported by the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

This one-day event seeks to create and sustain working relationships between NASA and its prime contractors with numerous colleges and universities serving minority students. The goal is to afford an opportunity for HBCU/MSI representatives to discuss potential subcontracting opportunities with NASA and many of its large business prime contractors.

The event is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Huntsville Museum of Art, at 300 Church St. Guest speakers include Ronald E. Blakely, associate director for the White House Initiative on HBCUs; Glenn A. Delgado, NASA associate administrator for the Office of Small Business Programs; and Joeletta Patrick, Minority University Research and Education Program (MUREP) manager for NASA’s Office of Education.

Attendees will network with NASA personnel and contractor representatives from participating NASA field centers, including Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland; Johnson Space Center in Houston; Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida; Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; and the Marshall Space Flight Center; as well as representatives from NASA’s Office of Small Business Programs and Office of Education.

News media interested in attending the event should contact Kim Newton in the Marshall Center's Public & Employee Communications Office at 256-544-0034, no later than 3 p.m. CDT Tuesday, Sept. 16.
