What: NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., will ring in the holiday season with a tree-lighting ceremony Dec. 2. Trees on the front grounds of Building 4200 will twinkle with lights when Marshall Center Associate Director Robin Henderson flips the switch and welcomes a special guest from the North Pole.
Children enrolled at Marshall’s Child Development Center will sing holiday favorites. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served prior to the tree-lighting, set for 4:45 p.m. CST.
Members of the news media are invited to attend.
Where: The tree-lighting ceremony will take place on the front grounds of Building 4200 on Rideout Road.
When: 4:45-5:30 p.m. CST, Dec. 2. (To ensure adequate security processing and badging time, members of the media are encouraged to arrive at Gate 9 at least 45 minutes prior to event start.)
To Attend: News media interested in attending the events should contact Molly Porter in Marshall's Public & Employee Communications Office at 256-544-2771 no later than 3 p.m. CST on Monday, Dec. 2. Media must report to the Redstone Arsenal Joint Visitor Control Center at Gate 9, Interstate 565 interchange at Rideout Road/Research Park Boulevard. Vehicles are subject to a security search at the gate. News media will need two photo identifications and proof of car insurance. Visitor parking is available in front of Building 4200 on the southwest side.
