NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center Small Business Alliance to Meet, Present Annual Awards; Huntsville-Area Media Invited

What: On Sept. 19, NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., will host a Small Business Alliance meeting at the Davidson Center for Space Exploration in Huntsville. Approximately 500 representatives of large and small business prime contractors, subcontractors and NASA organizations from across the country are expected to participate.

The event will include presentation of the Marshall Center Small Business Office's annual Industry & Advocates Awards, honoring aerospace companies and leaders who have demonstrated sustained support for the work of the Marshall Center and for NASA's mission of exploration and discovery.

Members of the news media are invited to attend.

Sponsored by the Marshall Center's Office of Procurement and the Small Business Office, the Small Business Alliance was established in 2007 to help small businesses pursue NASA procurement and subcontracting opportunities.

Who: Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle and Madison Mayor Troy Trulock will welcome participants. Dave Grove, program manager of NASA's Office of Small Business Programs, will present an update. Speakers from the Marshall Center will include Paul Gilbert, deputy manager, Flight Programs and Partnerships; Dave Iosco, deputy director, Office of Procurement; David Brock, small business specialist; Susan Cloud, special assistant to the director, Office of Human Capital; and Andrew Keys, chief technology officer.

When: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDT, Thursday, Sept. 19. (Registration opens at 7 a.m.) Highlights include:

8 a.m.: Welcome and opening remarks.

8:30 a.m.: Marshall Center overview from Paul Gilbert, deputy manager, Flight Programs and Partnerships.

9 a.m.: NASA Office of Small Business Programs update from Program Manager Dave Grove.

9:30 a.m.: Marshall Center's 2013 Industry & Advocates Award Ceremony.

The day will also feature a number of Marshall Center program updates and opportunities for networking.
