SLS Program's Todd May to Talk 'NASA's Next Great Ship' at USS Alabama Sept. 4; Fairhope High School Sept. 5

What/Who: Todd May, head of NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) Program at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., will talk to the public about the SLS, NASA's "Next Great Ship," Sept. 4 at Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile. May, who grew up in Fairhope, Ala., has been manager of the SLS Program since 2011. May and NASA astronaut Tony Antonelli will be available for interviews. Antonelli also will sign autographs.

May also will talk about SLS with students at Fairhope High School, his alma mater,, Sept. 5. SLS will be the most powerful rocket in the world with the greatest capacity of any launch system ever built to support any destination, any payload and any mission. The first flight test of the SLS is scheduled for 2017. The Marshall Center manages the SLS Program for the agency.

May will be in the area as part of the "NASA Business to Business Forum” where he will update area businesses on the progress of SLS.  NASA and the Mobile Chamber of Commerce are holding the forum that will feature managers and representatives from several NASA centers who will discuss the various aspects of working with the nation’s space agency.

USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, 2703 Battleship Parkway, Mobile, Ala.

Fairhope High School visit: Thursday, Sept. 5, 10 a.m. CDT
1 Pirate Drive, Fairhope, Ala.
