first is from the old mplayer-1.0pre8 version:

I had to kill the program from a different machine.

Finally this is the current version where I directly
call the svga driver. Whereas SDL was able to fill the
screen using svgalib, this call does not.

I have tried adding options -fs and -zoom without either
changing the size of the picture.
