Change the first line of "configure" to read
#! /bin/bash
Change the first line of "version.sh" to read
#!/bin/bash
Change line 1570 in "configure" to read (note the tail command)
cc_name_tmp=$($_cc -v 2>&1 | tail -1 | cut -d ' ' -f 1)
Make sure you use gsed, gawk and ggrep (the gnu versions).
I also use the following when running ./configure
./configure --cc=gcc --extra-cflags=-std=gnu99
--extra-cflags=-ffast-math --extra-cflags=-fomit-frame-pointer.
I'm using gcc version 4.3.4.
