I suspect that SSE was detected as not available by MPlayer, in which case you have more problems than just broken MP3 playback (all 64 bit systems are required to have SSE support). The 3DNow routines are not available on x86_64 though. Apart from that, the "obvious" solution is to compile with --disable-mp3lib
