I think it is possible, I just did not have the time, plus I couldn't test it anyway (see next paragraph). Do you actually notice it? And how much? On all systems I tested it on (including a slow netbook and via VNC) I couldn't even see the small window. Does this maybe depend on some configuration options? If I could actually see that small window I could much easier create a patch to hide it.
