I compiled the multi-threaded mplayer from: http://just.mooo.com/mplayer-svn-mt.tar.bz2 Which works absolutely perfectly for playing HD video, even on my slower notebook. However, mplayer is unable to display vobsubs from a vob file (when using the -sid 0 command line option.)
