Perhaps you'll be better > off with directx and/or gl on that system? I tried -vo gl, and it worked fine. The -v doesn't help much - it shows everything working up to the offscreen surface. It does show the backbuffer being allocated at screen size (and working), then the create_d3d_surfaces, then the failing call to createoffscreensurface. I'm down to something funky with the via chipset, and we'll just go with OpenGL on that box. Thanks for the pointers, I hadn't dug through the vo lib at all before.
