The timer on screen can't be relied upon because the fansub cuts out
commercials.

It's a fansub, so the source is Japanese TV; I assume it's 23.97.

The problem is probably related to the still shot at the beginning (which
was added by the fansubber).

Other people are reporting the problem in the fansubber's forums.  One is
using mplayer; I'm not sure what the other one is using.

Actually, the biggest problem with it is the way -demuxer mov works, and
*lots* of fansubs have the same problem with mov.
