Feature request: convenient aspect ratio and pan and scan control

There is a nice feature in Media Player Classic (Windows), which allows
visually controlling the dimensions of the video in any way you want,
from the keyboard.
You can just intuitevely press the NumPad numbers, and you get any Pan &
Scan or Aspect Ratio that you can imagine of. I.e. the image squeezes
vertically when pressing 2, or proportionally zooms in (almost to
infinity, no limits here), when pressing 9.
Is it possible to realize a similar behaviour with MPlayer for Linux?
Trying to guess the aspect ratio (if it is distorted) from the command
line is not very convenient, and zooming beyond mplayer's pan&scan is a
little tricky.

Thanks in advance.
