X11 shared memory issue/question

I am trying to use mplayer on Linux with x11 using shared memory. Yes, I
have verified that X11/Shm is supported on my system. I specify -vo x11
for that argument. I have looked at the code and would expect that it
would use the vo_x11.c video output driver. However, it is using the
vo_xv.c driver. It is displaying the images in a window. With the
X11/shared memory driver I wouldn't expect any display (my goal is to
capture the shared memory xImages and render them myself). Has anyone
used this option? Am I specifying the option correctly? Thank you very
much, Chuck Crisler
