Dear List, I have been asking answers to this problem from my linux distro's mailing list, but no one seems to know the answer.. It is really simple.. Has anyone ever succeeded in recording video and voice simultaneously from a V4L2 device and ALSA? Date: Monday 09 February 2009 From: Sampsa Riikonen <sampsa.riikonen@xxxxxx> To: opensuse <opensuse@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Dear List, Has anyone ever succeeded in recording video from a webcam (v4l2) AND sound (alsa) simultaneously? This is a thing that should be trivial (in the era of youtube, etc.) but it is not! :( http://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/linux-uvc-devel/2007-October/002242.html I asked ~ 6 months ago in this list how to record video using v4l2 and we came to the following conclusion (thanks to Manne): mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:device=/dev/video0:fps=30 -vo yuv4mpeg:file=paska.mpeg Now I am trying to add sound from an alsa device by: mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:device=/dev/video0:fps=30:forceaudio:alsa:adevice=hw.1,0 -vo yuv4mpeg:file=paska.mpeg -ao pcm:file=test.pcm But it does not work.. (no file test.pcm appears). Any clue, anyone?
